The season of Winter is when Hope is needed and is manifest. The hope of love, of peace, and the hope of rebirth. Therefore, on the obverse of this note is the image of Hope, and on the reverse, we see its opposite, Fear. When Hope is gone, all we are left with is Fear, and the most primal fear is the fear of death.

The Spring Mint bears the image of Love. As the earth renews itself and is reborn in the season of Spring, this is also the time of Love, the emotion that is capable of infinite renewal. The opposite of Love is Hate. As Love joins, Hate breaks apart. As Love heals, Hate destroys. As Love is a blessing, Hate is a curse.

At the height of Summer, our energy peaks. So, the peak of emotion is Joy. Joy fills us with the urge to dance, sing, and revel in the purest energies of life. For every peak, there is a valley. From the heights of Joy, we descend down and down, deep into the dark valley of shadows called Misery. Therefore Misery is depicted on the reverse of this note.

On the Autumn note we see Peace. The Prince of all emotions, Peace is the foundation upon which all other emotions are built. Peace is also the foundation upon which all international relations are built as well. Without Peace, there can only be War. The reverse of the Autumn note depicts War, which is conflict, opposition, and aggression.
